In his February 26, 2019 post on Facebook, Congressman Adam Schiff (California) paid lip service to rejecting authoritarianism:
Paradoxically, just days later on March 1st, 2019, Schiff sent letters to the CEOs of Amazon.com, Google and Facebook, urging them effectively to censor “anti-vaccine” media–with verbiage so one-sided and devoid of evidence to indicate he’s done any research on the dreaded “anti-vaccine” proponents he seeks to silence, it sounds as if Schiff’s letter could have come right from the vaccine manufacturers themselves:
The congressman apparently is unaware of the Federal Government’s own Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, which publishes a running total of the dollar payouts to victims and family members for vaccine injury and death, updated monthly.
As to his referenced “overwhelming consensus” in the medical community, here are two physician groups which challenge Schiff’s claim of vaccine safety in their publications:
Vaccines do not offer perfect protection from illness, and studies have demonstrated that vaccinees can become silent carriers of illnesses via viral shedding. Media tends to hype the “unvaccinated” [or undervaccinated] as culprits in outbreaks, while vaccine failure and possible viral shedding from vaccines is ignored.
Schiff employed rhetoric disparaging “anti-vaccine” messages, as though they have no basis in reality, which might sound reasonable to readers who don’t realize that the notorious “anti-vaccine” / “vaccine-hesitant” movement is comprised largely of ex-vaxxers who formerly were pro-vaccine, but who themselves or others they know suffered injury, as evidenced by physical deterioration, mental regression or death after vaccination.
It is alarming to liberty-oriented onlookers that Amazon.com removed the documentary, Vaxxed, from its Amazon Prime video streaming lineup within a couple of hours after publication of Congressman Schiff’s letter.
In response, Congressman Bill Posey published his own letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg:
The vaccine issue is quickly distilling down to a battle over basic civil liberties, encompassing freedom of speech, religion, parental rights and bodily sovereignty–under the guise of protecting the “greater good” from infectious diseases.
Even if you favor vaccination as a means of disease protection, do you really want government officials and their powerful corporate patrons to be able to dictate invasive medical interventions in a one-size-fits-all manner, without regard to our genetic differences and sensitivities, in the name of utilitarianism–a concept opposed to individual liberty? Weren’t we all indoctrinated since childhood with the value of individual liberty and freedom and reverence for our US Constitution and Bill of Rights, which supposedly set us on a higher plane than the rest of the world? [At least during my youth we were.] Or was it all a smokescreen? Our veterans who died and were maimed in the many wars over the past century, supposedly to uphold those values, ought to be turning in their graves now. The least we can do to honor their sacrifice is to not roll over for tyrants seeking to control our bodies. Has the perpetual media fear-mongering about disease rendered you ready to dispense with your right to informed consent to medical procedures and human experimentation, as dictated by the post-World War Two Nuremberg Code?
Don’t people at risk for injury from vaccination deserve as much protection from harm as the immunocompromised people whom we are told we must be vaccinated to protect? Just because data-cherry-picking public health officials, media and others continually deny that vaccines cause injuries, that doesn’t make it true. Just because they continually assert that science disproves vaccines’ association with autism, that doesn’t make it true. Science is never settled, by its very definition, and independent scientists and physicians are speaking out about the reality of vaccine injuries. We must not tolerate public health officials’ current practice of putting their heads in the sand regarding the exponentially rising rates of autism, autoimmunity and neurodegenerative disorders–alongside ever-increasing vaccine recommendations by CDC and the medical community.
If you think that vaccine requirements affect only young children enrolling in school, you are mistaken. The Hawai’i State Department of Health has proposed new vaccine mandates for college enrollment, to take effect in 2020, among several other new vaccine requirements, based on CDC recommendations. We are on the slippery slope toward expanded adult vaccine requirements. What will you do, if and when the government dictates that you must accept any of the near three hundred vaccines currently in the production pipeline, in addition to the ones currently marketed and recommended–as a condition for receiving public assistance, for travel, or for entry into public buildings? Will you roll up your sleeves to take whatever they’re serving up in the needle?
Your vaccine-pushing healthcare workers and liberty-crushing public health officials and politicians–many of whom likely have never read a vaccine manufacturer’s package insert or the CDC’s Excipients and Media Summary–assuredly will NOT be there to hold your hand, lend a shoulder for you to cry on, or assist you with your medical or funeral costs if you or a loved one is injured by these liability-free, scientifically untested, most lucrative products of the pharmaceutical industry.
Equally disconcerting is the apparent public indifference to this shot across the bow against personal liberties by Congressman Schiff, among an onslaught of seemingly coordinated media talking points, intent on quashing the voices of “anti-vaxxers,” more accurately described as “vaccine injury awareness advocates.”
Protection of unpopular speech is precisely the purpose of the First Amendment and supposedly what made our country unique. Do you trust others, with their various agendas, so much that you’re willing to allow some to become gatekeepers of free speech and debate? I sincerely hope that it isn’t this easy to relegate the Bill of Rights to the trash heap. The US government has a track record of hypocrisy in upholding rights of the people. And the medical community has a track record of having been on the wrong side of truth and healthy recommendations. Remember when physicians and nurses were used to convince the public that smoking was consistent with health? Or when they promoted drugs later discovered to be dangerous, like Thalidomide and Vioxx? (I’ll leave cancer-causing Simian Virus #40 (SV-40) contamination in the early polio vaccine for another discussion.) Imagine how many more people might have been injured by those and a host of other “mistakes” by scientists, physicians and public health officials in the absence of First Amendment protection for unpopular speech and freedom of the press to bring the truth to the forefront.
We must not delegate “fact checking” to the foxes guarding the hen house…
